Dear Members and Friends,
As I write this letter to you, I am thinking back on the years I was the Director from 2004 to 2017. It’s wonderful to see how much the Fenton has grown – over seventy dedicated volunteers and almost four-hundred members! All great signs that the Board of Trustees and staff are listening to you and providing the programming and services you want. I know, with your support and interest, the Fenton will continue to grow and teach our local history.
I appeal to you this holiday season to think about your family history and your ties to our local greater Jamestown history.
- Did you grow up here?
- Did your family settle here after they immigrated to the United States?
- Do or did your children attend the local schools?
- Are you a member of a local church or parish?
ALL these connections matter.
This year the funds received from this appeal will support the collections, the special collections (paper collections) plus the staff and volunteers that keep it safe, organized and searchable. The Fenton collections tell our local story. It is our biggest responsibility. You can help preserve the collections for future use and research by supporting this appeal.
As in the past few years, anyone donating $1,000 or more to this appeal will have their name engraved on a plaque that hangs in the Fenton Mansion. Can’t afford to donate a large sum? Support a few hours of our staff’s time, or buy some archival boxes or folders – in any amount and you will be recognized, with your permission, on our website and in our newsletter.
Another easy way to support this valuable work is to donate monthly. Visit www.fentonhistorycenter.org/pledge and chose the amount that works for your budget.
Donate today and don’t forget to renew your membership. If you are not a member, please consider joining us!
Sincerely,
Janet M. Wahlberg
