The Falconer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary published “Firehouse Favorites” in 1994. Under the chapter “Firemen’s Favorites,” Larry Nutt submitted this recipe.
GRANDMA NUTT’S DOUGHNUTS
1 cup sugar
2 cups leftover mashed potatoes
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
Approximately 2 cups flour
Mix all ingredients together except for the flour. Mix well and add enough flour to handle. Cut out and deep fry until golden brown.
