Notes from the Director – January 2025

“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

I would like to extend that idea to the new year. The Fenton has some very successful events that have been going on for years; the Saints and Sinners Cemetery Tours, the upcoming Trivia Nights at Shawbucks, the monthly lecture series, the historic walking tours and the annual holiday exhibit.

The community supports them. I ask you, our members and friends, to tell me what you think would improve them. What do you think would take them to the next level? You can call me at the Fenton, 716-664-6256, email me at director@fentonhistorycenter.org or stop in. I welcome your ideas.

Join us either for one or all the Wednesday evenings in February for the 2025 Triva Nights at Shawbucks. The game starts at 7 PM, come for dinner and stay to compete. Teams of 2-6 persons with a cost of only $10/person. It’s a fun night to show off your trivia chops and win prizes in between the rounds when you know your local history.

The museum will be open January and February, closing the first two weeks of March for the annual cleaning. The “Christmas on the Homefront” exhibit will be up through January 25, Doors Open Day (please register online) and the On the Homefront exhibit about life in Jamestown during World War II will be up through February 28.

Thank you for your continued support of the Fenton History Center through your donations and time. Without you there would be no Fenton History Center.

Happy New Year!
