On Saturday, July 6, 2023, a group gathered to enjoy the Lucy Tour of Jamestown. Joni Blackman, former Director of the Fenton, was the Tour Guide. She treated us to an incredible summary of Lucy’s early years, emphasizing the losses that she suffered in life and how she spent her entire life trying to re-establish the family circle she had as a child.
As we headed over the Washington Street Bridge we began to learn about sites in Jamestown where Lucy had lived and worked, where her family had worked, and those places that Lucy visited when she came back to the city. One was the Little Theater building that is now named the Lucille Ball Little Theater. In addition to learning about Lucy’s connection to the city, Joni pointed out many Jamestown landmarks and gave background on them. The tour stretched long beyond the usual one-hour Tour but was filled with endless amounts of terrific information and anecdotes. Thank you, Joni Blackman, for an excellent experience!
