Welcome Spring! – 2026

April is the start of the busy season. Granted we held the 11th Annual Fenton Trivia Tournament at Shawbucks last month, the tourists and members start to come back to the museum in April. Please attend County Historian Norman Carlson’s talk on “George Washington’s Connections to Chautauqua County” and our Country’s 250th Anniversary on Tuesday, April 21 at 7 PM. It should be very interesting.

Our “Vets Finding Vets” Coordinator, Barbara Cessna, will be busy assisting our county veterans who are going on a Honor Flight. It involves two weekends of meeting and greeting fellow veterans followed by the whirlwind trip to the Capital. It’s very exciting!

I am getting ready to install the “50th Anniversary of the King of Sweden’s Visit” exhibit. He visited Jamestown on April 25, 1976. He was only here for a few hours, but thousands attended the festivities. Were you there? Did you make a flag? Please email director@fentonhistorycenter.org or call me (716-664-6256) with your memories of the months leading up to his visit and the day of the visit. I would like to capture as many memories of the occasion as possible. The exhibition will be opened on May 19 following my talk at 7 p.m.
