Fenton History Center Carriage house excavation.
Excavations found and followed the foundation of the Fenton Carriage house. The structure only appears in the background of one image, and on early maps.
A large brick lined cistern was found, it originally collected rain water from the roof of the building and directed it through a sediment filter. This water was used for the animals.
Artifaccts pulled from this section of the property reveal the change in usage, from a carriage house for horses to a garage for the Fenton daughter’s vehicles.
