Vince Martonis was the first speaker of the Fenton History Center’s 2025 lecture series, which kicked off on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. He spoke on 19th Century pottery and potters and previously gave a program on the subject at the Fenton in 1988.
Recently, Martonis has written three books on the subject and presented his research at the talk: Fenton & Whittemore (Jamestown and Fluvanna), Haven & Kenyon (Sheridan), and Mathews (Gerry).
To complement this, a pottery exhibit was launched at the Fenton, and will be up through May 2. The exhibit includes seven pieces from the Fenton’s pottery collection.
If you missed the talk, you can check it out on the Fenton Facebook page. All three of Martonis’ books are available in the Fenton store.
