Vets Finding Vets: December Canteen

Fenton Canteen is a monthly event for Veterans to meet other Vets and enjoy coffee, cookies, and camaraderie. It is held on the second Saturday morning of each month and is open to Veterans of all ages. Occasionally, we have a special guest speaker, which we did in December. Jack Anderson, of Jamestown, entered the Navy in September 1959 and was discharged in June 1967.

His power point presentation of his experiences on Assault Craft Unit Two during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962 and the backstory of political powers involved was very interesting. The release of the Kennedy Papers made it possible for him to put more details together during the 14-day standoff and realize that nuclear war was even closer than anyone realized.

We welcome other Veterans who are interested in sharing their experiences. If you are interested, please call 716-664-6256 and ask for Barb.
