Patriotic Bingo has almost exclusively been the Vets Finding Vets fundraiser for the Soldier’s Friend Scholarship fund, and the October 18th Bingo certainly was a success for the fund!
The Soldier’s Friend Scholarship allots $1,000 to a graduate or undergraduate of Chautauqua County who is entering the military or a military related field (and that is the abridged version).
We have been fortunate that Fluvanna Fire Department allows us to have these events at their Hall and many of their usual bingo players have big patriotic hearts. Upon arriving at the hall, I was surprised to see people already there and as we were setting up, many others were arriving.
Heartfelt thanks go to the veteran-owned businesses who donated funding for the cash game prizes. They are: Bella Block Windows, Blue Cord Contracting, Elite Creations, Music for Your Mouth, Mystic Smoke, and Ted’s Auto. We were very grateful for their sponsorship and were happy to spread the word about their services and that they are veteran -owned businesses.
Great thanks to the raffle basket makers and those who donated items, lottery tickets, and empty baskets of all sizes to be used for the raffle.
The most amazing news of the day was that all these great details resulted in funding for TWO scholarships!
