Historic Tours: Northside Tour
Jamestown’s “Old Northside,” which was located between 4th Street and the Chadakoin River, now makes up the city’s greater downtown. Discover the stories of the people and businesses that thrived there in the early 1800s throughout the 1950s. This two-hour tour begins and ends at the Fenton History Center (67 Washington Street).
This tour will provide attendees a creative opportunity within the historic tour. Attendees should plan to focus on one area of creative pursuit-including: A) Photography, B) Architectural Sketching, or C) Historical Narrative/Short Story. Either digital or paper-based art forms are welcome for this tour.
The Northside tour, which focuses on architecture and built form, will stop at several points and allow participants to capture history through one of the above creative pursuits. Participants should plan to bring their own cameras-Heather can provide drawing paper and drawing pens/pencils as needed.
