The Fenton History Center remembers Barbara June Courtney Washburg, who passed away on April 7, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born in Jamestown on September 15, 1948, she earned her MBA from St. Bonaventure University and later worked for the United States Postal Service prior to her retirement.
Barbara served as Office Manager at the Fenton History Center from the summer of 1995 through May 6, 1998. Her responsibilities included overseeing the office, managing reception, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the organization during a period when research materials and public spaces were arranged differently than they are today.
She is remembered for her welcoming manner and for assisting visitors and volunteers with a wide range of questions. She was a consistent point of contact in the office and was known for helping others navigate requests and inquiries as they arose.
