January went by in a flash. We had a very productive two-week shut-down to clean both buildings and organize the behind-the-scenes storage and work areas. Very satisfying. Thank you to all the volunteers and staff members who did the work!
Thank you to the Jamestown Parks Department staff who are so helpful. They have been here evaluating the windows, the tower and the roof. The tower ceiling had a water leak years ago that they fixed, painted and Ahlstrom Schaeffer installed a new light fixture because the previous one was so outdated. It looks terrific.
The 2025 Annual Meeting was held on February 1st. While we had to move it because of the cold snap the week prior, we still had a good attendance. If you haven’t already read the annual report, I encourage you to. It is on our website at fentonhistorycenter.org/annual-report The Board elected Marcia Kleinert and Paul Johnson to serve 3-year terms. Both offer diverse experiences and valuable networking opportunities that will serve the board well. The other board members who where up for election to a second term all said “Yes,” as did the officers: Thomas Goodwill, President; Janet Wahlberg, Vice President; Paul Bentley, Secretary; Sam Papaserge, Treasurer; Kaycee Colburn, Trustee; Hannah Jaroszynski, Trustee; James Jaroszynski, Trustee; Richard Lundquist, Trustee.
VISION 2030 is our new program to support the Fenton’s growth over the next five years. We are asking you to consider monthly giving to bolster our bottom line, which will allow us to hire and keep an education coordinator and a part-time collections assistant. I will also be reaching out to you to fundraise to us to build a much needed multi-purpose gallery/workspace building on the Hall House property (which may also be the home of the #93 Trolley) and to grow the operations endowment fund. It’s a lot. I know but I know we can do it – together.
TRIVIA 2026 is coming to Shawbucks Press Room in March. Every Wednesday in March get your team together and show us how smart you are! You can win cash and recognition! Details are inside.
