Who is it? – June 2025

William C. J. Hall was born on August 8, 1828, and died on October 30, 1887. He was married to Maria M. Woodhull. Hall played a significant role in the development of the region, serving as a surveyor on the route of the Atlantic and Great Western Railway between Jamestown and Salamanca. He was instrumental in the founding of the YMCA and served as the superintendent of the first worsted mill. He also contributed to education as the principal of the Ellington Academy and was an active member of the First Congregational Church. His portrait was painted by artist William Greaves.
