In Memoriam: Carolyn Volk 1931-2025

The Fenton History Center remembers Carolyn Pearson Graham Volk, who passed away on May 17, 2025, at the age of 93.

Carolyn was born on December 21, 1931, in Jamestown, New York, to John and Dorothy Casselman Pearson. A graduate of Jamestown High School, Class of 1949, she spent her life dedicated to family, civic engagement, and historical preservation.

She was involved in the early years of the Fenton Historical Society. Carolyn was part of the original committee that helped save the Fenton Mansion from demolition during the Brooklyn Square reconstruction. She became the first chair of the Membership Committee and served on the Board of Trustees from 1964 to 1972, including as Board Secretary from 1969 to 1971. Her dedication during those formative years helped secure the foundation of the organization we cherish today.

In addition to her work with the Fenton, Carolyn was actively involved in a wide range of community efforts and numerous organizations.
