Lecture: George Washington’s Connections to Chautauqua County
Chautauqua County Historian Norman Carlson will talk about George Washington’s connections to Chautauqua County. How close did he come? Chautauqua County on maps he used and maps he drew. On the route for his most extensive military offensive in the Revolutionary War. Part of plans for national transportation improvements. Local response to his death. Incorporated into a new religion created less than 10 miles from Chautauqua County. Local people who knew him. And he did NOT sleep here.
