The discovery of two ovens buried in the basement walls indicated that the original kitchen for the Mansion was located in the basement. This is not unusual since many homes back then had their kitchens in the basement. A cook prepared the meals and sent them upstairs via a dumb-waiter (now concealed behind plaster). The fireplace/oven is in the original location
