As I look back on 2023, I realize how busy we were at the Fenton History Center and how fast the year has gone by. It seems like it was only yesterday that we were planning our 60th Anniversary Gala! The last item on the agenda for our 60th Anniversary is closing the Time Capsule. We will close the Time Capsule at our Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 2 p.m. All members are invited to attend the Annual Meeting where we will also have Dr. Tom Greer do a presentation on the Archaeology Project.
Our Exhibit Opening for the Fenton Collection (photo collage on page 2) was well attended and the food was heavenly! For those of you who couldn’t attend the opening, the Collection is on display and most items will be on display permanently. Our holiday decorations will be on display through December and January 2 – January 6. The museum will be closed on December 23, 25, 26, and 30.
Speaking of being closed, the Fenton History Center will be closed January 15 through January 26. Our major project this year will be a makeover for the Gift Shop. We will also be doing our major cleaning of all of the exhibit rooms and storage areas. We are in need of volunteers to help with the cleaning tasks. If you are willing to help with cleaning please call our Curator, Therese, at 716-664-6256, ext. 107 or email her at curator@fentonhistorycenter.org.
Now that 2023 is coming to a close, your membership expires on December 31. Please renew your membership for 2024 if you have not done so already. Your membership is important to us and helps us to offer quality programs and to keep the Museum and Research Center running efficiently. We also value your input as members of the Fenton History Center. Dues can be paid on our website, by mail, or in person. A Fenton History Center membership also makes a great Christmas Gift for someone who loves history, so think about purchasing a Gift Membership for that person who doesn’t need anything else.
Happy Holidays from the Fenton History Center Staff!
