Lakewood: A Novel – Bill Walsh Book Signing

Bill Walsh

On Tuesday, July 19 at 6:30 p.m., the Fenton History Center will welcome Bill Walsh and his friend Steven Corey for an evening of conversation about his new book Lakewood, set in our town of Lakewood. Bill was born in Jamestown and raised in Lakewood. He now resides in Atlanta, Georgia where he is the director of the undergraduate and graduate creative writing programs at Reinhardt University. He is the editor of the James Dickey Review and when not writing, he spends time with his family, enjoys competitive tennis and golf, as well as playing chess internationally.

Bill describes his book, Lakewood, as follows:

Wrought with angst over his young sister’s death, nineteen-year-old Robert English returns to his childhood town to discover family secrets, adventure, and the love of his life. In 1973, in idyllic Lakewood, New York, this beautiful coming-of-age story is about a lonely college student who returns to his hometown eleven years after the death of his twin sister. Robert English accepts a summer job housesitting for his history professor. If Thomas Wolfe’s Look Homeward, Angel proclaimed you can never return home, Robert attempts the impossible, to return to his childhood to reconcile his past, to find answers to his sister’s death, to have a summer of adventure and love, and ease the guilt he suffers. Along the way, he finds adventure, love, and sex. This young medical student, flawed like all men and women, loses the one woman he truly loves and finds himself alone again. Lust, lies, and seduction tempt him away from her and leave him damaged, almost beyond repair, but he must find a way back into her heart. This is the first book in a series of three.

Bill will be signing and selling copies of his book. Please join us for this evening of delightful conversation and entertainment. There is no cost.
