Last month, the Fenton hosted two Juneteenth events.
First, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Wendy Straight presented documentary Underground Chautauqua: Three Freedom Trails. The documentary covered an in-depth presentation of the abolitionist movement in Chautauqua County and surrounding areas and its involvement in the underground railroad.
Then, on Friday, June 16, 2023, we hosted Mat Callahan and presented his documentary Songs of Slavery and Emancipation that featured the research and the recording of abolitionist songs. The song book and CD are available for purchase in the Fenton Museum Store, including our online store.
