SUMMARY:Joseph Ellicott, A Historical Portrayal.
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin us for Joseph Ellicott, A Historical Portrayal, where Dennis Upton brings this influential yet often-overlooked figure to life. As the chief surveyor and land agent for the Holland Land Company, Ellicott played a crucial role in shaping Western New York, including advocating for the Erie Canal. Through this first-person performance, step back to 1824 and discover the man behind the many places that bear his name.\n\n\n\nThe 2025 Fenton History Center Lecture Series features both morning and evening lectures between March and September. This event is free and open to the public. Lectures are held in the dining room at the Gov. Reuben Fenton mansion. It is also streamed via Facebook. Donations are appreciated to support the Fenton History Center’s mission to preserve local history and provide educational opportunities.\n\n\n\nThank you to our sponsor: Media One Group / WJTN.\n
